What to avoid

Despite what this section says, if any of the points that I mention help you, continue to use them. These are merely suggestions based on my own experience.
1) Do not just read through your notes and highlight your textbook. This is passive learning and won't help you retain knowledge effectively. Instead try and practise active recall and spaced repetition (Again Ali Abdaal has amazing videos on this see our resources page for links).
2) Don't be afraid to ask you teachers for help. While it may seem that you are annoying them, quite frankly, that is what they are there for. If you are stuck with any topic ask questions even if they may seem stupid. Trust me it is better to feel stupid for a moment rather than in your exam. If for any reason you feel as though you can't go to your teacher, drop me your questions on our contact page and I will try my best to explain it.
3) Stop procrastinating. I know as hard as it may seem, by procrastinating you are losing precious time that you could be using to learn content. To help with this look into the reasons why you are procrastinating. Is it because you're fearful of tackling a certain topic or is it because you just can't focus? Whatever the reason, find ways you can combat this and how you can better motivate yourself and discipline yourself even if that means giving you phone to mum and dad.
4) On the other hand, don't overwork yourself. This will cause burn out and you won't work effectively or even want to work for an even longer period of time than the extra time you were working. It is important to take breaks and rest days so that you are able to work at maximum capacity next time.
